A groundbreaking ceremony for the Artesian of Ojai, a new 64-unit assisted living/memory support community to be built at 203 E. El Roblar Drive took place Thursday, September 21 at 11:30 am.
The Artesian of Ojai is the first senior development approved in unincorporated Ventura County in many years. Its concept is new to the local senior living marketplace; four 16-unit buildings designed as a home with studio and one-bedroom accommodations clustered around common living, dining, and activity areas. Additionally, an administration building and wellness center will be located on the site. Outside, sustainably landscaped gardens, a pool, barbecue area, and walking paths will enhance the quality of life.
The Artesian of Ojai’s primary vision is to deliver top quality, individualized assisted living/memory support services to residents in a home rather than in an institution. Evidence-based research supports a higher quality of life outcomes for elders in smaller more intimate community settings.
Individualized care will be provided by a universal caregiver called a “Guide”. Each trained Guide will shepherd residents through his/her daily routine including grooming, medication administration, activity, and dining experiences.
A sales and marketing office will open on the site in January. Baring significant delays, construction of the new community should take ten months.
